MooTools Fx.Position

This is not a big landmark in the history of MooTools by any means but it means a lot to me. I just put what I hope to be the finishing touches on the first of what should be many Classes I’ve written for MooTools. It’s not a terribly exciting or complex piece of code I think I just see it this way because it is really my first foray into providing some contribution besides a very little bit of knowledge and advice to an open source community.

The source is viewable at my plugins repository on GitHub and I certainly plan to continue to add more Classes as well as BDD specs and proper demos for them.

One down; many, many to go.

Theming Up Wordpress

Last night I dove a little deeper into the pieces that make wordpress tick and put together the admin panel for the theme I’ve been building. My goal is not just to make the theme pretty, flexible and readable but also to make it pretty customizable. After all I know my tastes are not like everyone else’s and so why should I limit use of the theme to people that want to do things like me?

Anyway the theme is in much better shape now than it was a little while back and I’m proud to say I’m ok with it enough to use it here (as you may have noticed you phantom reader you). Anyway the theme is looking alright and it’s even got options now which I think is pretty exciting. It’s not an official release yet because I still want to fix it up some more and give it some more options before creating an ‘official’ release.

Change Is In The Air

I realize to date the posts here have been largely technical or technology related and that was my original intention for how to use it when I decided to begin posting again largely because I had come into some freelance web development and I felt like I needed a place to talk about work related things I have done, heard about, or been interested in recently. However, if I take a closer look at the things I’ve written none of them are really solid technical advice and to be perfectly honest I’ve had to post updates in the posts I felt were going to be most technically useful stating I was wrong or incorrect in some assumptions. This all basically brought me to the conclusion (along with non-existent readership) I can do whatever the heck I want here. It is after all my sandbox.

So without further ado…
